AFC kept the pressure up at the top of the table with a comfortable 6-0 win over Chelsea Rovers. AFC made light work of the exceptionally strong lead to race in to an early lead, with Nathan Leonard’s set pieces creating three goals. Within three minutes he whipped in a free kick that evaded the defence and was turned in by Sam Grosser. A sixth minute corner saw a Tom Melvin header well saved, but from the resulting corner George Harringto tapped in from close range to double the AFC lead. Although rarely troubled throughout the game, Jack Farthing had to be alert to save well in the tenth minute when the Chelsea Rovers striker found himself through on goal.
Walcountians continued to dominate and were three goals to the good before the half hour park, again from a set piece, as the Rovers defender turned the ball in to his own net from a Nathan Leonard corner. A defensive mix up on the stroke of half time gifted Luke Rodgers a goal to make the score 4-0 at half time.
The second half took much the same pattern and just after the hour mark a superb goal put AFC five goals to the good. Neat interchange between Sam Grosser on the left wing saw the ball find Luke Rodgers, whose perfectly weighted chipped pass was chested and volleyed home by Nathan Leonard. Ryan Thomas went close either side of a second Nathan Leonard goal, who smashed in to the roof of the net following an excellent Sam Grosser run.
