AFC Walcountians survived a late scare to win the first game of their double header against Ashtead. AFC were comfortably better for large periods and led 1-0 at half time thanks to a Sam Grosser penalty, as George Wilkshire was bundled over in the box following a fine run from left back.
Walcountians created a number of chances in the second half but could only take one of them, Sam Grosser rounding off a superb passage of passing football with a well taken finish. A few minutes from time Ashtead pulled one back despite having barely threatened all game with a well struck volley in to the roof of the net.
AFC held on, though, to emerge 2-1 victors in the first game.
